MIT chosen as the best university in the world

MIT established itself as the best university in the world for the seventh consecutive year.

The trend is clear; the most prestigious universities are becoming more powerful. MIT established itself as the best university in the world for the seventh consecutive year. Stanford and Harvard continue into the top three in the rankings.

The top 10 of QS World University Rankings 2019

  1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – United States
  2. Stanford University – United States
  3. Harvard University – United States
  4. California Institute of Technology (Caltech) – United States
  5. University of Oxford – United Kingdom
  6. University of Cambridge – United Kingdom
  7. ETH Zurich, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology – Switzerland
  8. Imperial College London – United Kingdom
  9. University of Chicago – United States
  10. University College of London – United Kingdom

The Asian growth

Again, several Asian institutions are among the best in the evaluations. The case of Singapore is exceptional; the University of Singapore manages to reach position 11, followed by the Nanyang Technological University in the 12th place. From China, Tsinghua University ranks 17th and from Japan, the University of Tokyo reaches the 23rd position.

The evaluation metrics used by QS World University Rankings to accomplish this classification include the academic reputation, reputation of the employer, number of teachers per student, citations and academic references, the ratio of international faculty and quantity of international students.
